I really liked this book. The beginning was heart wrenching. It was a terrific way to start the book. I couldn't understand why there weren't many 4-star ratings or raves about this book then. With that said, this book is good; it's Gena Showalter after all, but it doesn't stand up to her other works. I love the heroine and I like the hero, but I'm not in love with the hero. Call me shallow, but she just kept reminding us over and over that the hero was ugly. I like him though. His personality, the way he took care of Vika (the heroine), and who he is as a person. I just found it really annoying and detrimental to the whole book & the image of Solo when it was mentioned in every other paragraph that he was ugly. Eesh! Okay, I get it! Even as a shallow person, I didn't care so it just brought the book down. Still a great work by Showalter though. Could've been better, obviously.
